Serve With Purpose

Volunteer With Pendeza Uganda

Volunteer with Pendeza Uganda

Volunteers bring valuable skills, experience, time, and fresh perspectives to Pendeza Uganda’s mission of strengthening families, raising flourishing children, and transforming communities.

Whether you serve remotely or join us in Uganda, we seek to connect your abilities with an identified need where your contribution can be responsible, meaningful, and sustainable.

Our volunteers serve alongside local staff and community members, respecting local knowledge, leadership, culture, and priorities. Volunteers complement—not replace—the experience and work of our local team.

Share your skills. Serve with purpose. Create lasting change.

Who Can Volunteer?

We welcome applications from students, professionals, couples, retirees, and others who respect our Christian identity and share a genuine desire to serve.

Volunteer placements are based on:

  • Current organisational and programme needs
  • The applicant’s skills, experience, and suitability
  • Availability and length of commitment
  • References and appropriate background checks
  • Safeguarding and role-specific requirements

Submitting an application does not automatically guarantee a placement. Each opportunity is carefully reviewed to ensure it benefits the families and children we serve.

Ways You Can Serve

Business, Finance and Livelihoods

Support entrepreneurship training, savings groups, financial literacy, business assessment, livelihood development, or financial systems.

Education, Mentorship and Youth Development

Contribute to mentorship, life-skills education, vocational guidance, or approved learning activities for children and young people.

Media, Communications and Storytelling

Support photography, videography, writing, design, social media, fundraising communication, or digital content—while following consent and safeguarding standards.

Organisational and Professional Capacity Building

Share expertise in leadership, governance, administration, monitoring and evaluation, fundraising, human resources, technology, research, or organisational development.

Programme, Community and Office Support

Assist with approved outreach, training, health education, documentation, data management, communications, finance, or daily operations.

Have a different skill? Tell us what you can offer, and we will explore whether it matches a current need.

Volunteer Remotely

You do not need to travel to Uganda to make a valuable contribution. Remote volunteers may support clearly defined projects in fundraising, communications, graphic design, research, training, technology, administration, professional mentoring, or other areas aligned with current needs.

Each remote opportunity includes agreed responsibilities, timelines, supervision, communication arrangements, and expected outputs. This helps ensure that your contribution strengthens ongoing work and is practical for both the volunteer and the Pendeza Uganda team.

Volunteer in Uganda

In-country volunteering offers an opportunity to serve alongside our local team and learn from the families, churches, and communities connected to our work.

Because meaningful service requires preparation and relationship-building, the duration of each placement depends on the role. Longer commitments may be encouraged for assignments involving training, mentorship, or ongoing programme support.

Approved volunteers receive guidance on:

  • Placement responsibilities, supervision, and expected conduct
  • Safeguarding, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries
  • Accommodation, meals, and local transport
  • Health, insurance, visas, and travel preparation
  • Cultural orientation and respect for local leadership
  • Costs associated with the placement

Accommodation arrangements are confirmed individually and should not be assumed until availability, suitability, and costs have been verified.

Serving Responsibly

The dignity, safety, and well-being of families and children come first. All volunteers are expected to:

  • Respect Pendeza Uganda’s Christian identity and core values
  • Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, consent, and photography policies
  • Maintain healthy and appropriate boundaries
  • Work under the direction of assigned staff
  • Respect Ugandan culture, local knowledge, and community leadership
  • Avoid making personal promises or giving directly outside approved procedures
  • Use stories and images only with informed consent and organisational approval

Roles involving children or sensitive information may require references, identification, interviews, background checks, and additional safeguarding procedures.
